         Police warning about coca-cola

Forwarding once more this very necessary piece of advice.

Take notes, ladies, and forward to your daughters, all your female friends, and friends with wives and daughters.

Take care....  cid:image001.gif@01CB0978.89F8F1B0

DO YOU KNOW ? Coke+Ajinomoto Can be Used To Rape Ladies

I received a news about the recent tactic used to spike girls' drink.

It is a cheap and widely used method.

This method was used in Canny Ong's murder, despite her being a karate black belt holder.

       Rapist uses this method.

Coca-cola+ajinomoto/monosodium glutamate = a medicine which will cause drowsiness and excitement in the victim.

This mixture is poisonous if used too often on the victim.

DO NOT accept coca-cola or any other drinks from stranger / even if it  is your friend that you are not very close with.

Science vs Religion

Just read an article on Big Bang Theory and Biblical text in Genesis in CNN page. Below is the comment  on another comment from one of the readers. I think it is well written and in accordance with my personal opinion.  Just to share with you all. fr C.S.Liu

" This lady is not really riding on anyone's coattails. This is an "opinion piece" located in the "opinion section" of a blog dedicated to religion, faith and belief.
Science has not answered the questions many are asking about the origin of the universe. And it will probably never answer "why" according to some of the world's most brilliant minds. So it is up to us to ask and express our opinions on that matter.
“Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge which is power; religion gives man wisdom which is control. Science deals mainly with facts; religion deals mainly with values.
The two are not rivals. They are complementary.
Science keeps religion from sinking into the valley of crippling irrationalism and paralyzing obscurantism. Religion prevents science from falling into the marsh of obsolete materialism and moral nihilism.” – Martin Luther King, Jr
'Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.' – Albert Einstein
I've seen a lot of 'internet-atheist' non-scientists ride on the coat tails of scientists and claim science is on "their side". That is just silly though, not really infuriating."

Dear Leaders,

As you are aware, our church is having a fundraising carnival in less than 2 weeks.

We will have food sale, garage sale, games for the young and very young, fitness workshop, line/praise dance and medical screening. All proceeds will go towards Sri Eden and upgrading works for the playground in Kampung Baiduri.

Most people regardless of faith are receptive to good works. This carnival provides an opportunity for us to invite our pre-believer friends to join us in so many ways. Friendships formed doing things together are long lasting. It is a good start for us to share God’s love.

They can cook if they are good cooks or love to cook, donate things to the garage sale or volunteer services like haircut. They can sponsor products/services that can be sold and used as prizes for games, etc.

A well known calligraphy artist agreed to donate a few of his master pieces for sale. A couple of ladies will be cutting hair. A chiropractor is giving free spinal checkup. A company is giving us toys and household items. Others; coffee and chocolates. We need more!

Special interest classes such as Fitness Workshop, Korean Language, Line/Praise Dance will be open for registration for people who are interested.  These classes will be held after the carnival. They will provide an opportunity to get to know our new friends and build a relationship with them over time.

There cannot be a Carnival without you, your cell members and friends. Come on, join the fun and excitement!

Come support the carnival and come together to Go.Do.Go.Od! There are so many scriptures on doing good and we’ll leave you with one:

“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” (1 Timothy 6:18).

Thank you & God bless.

Subject: from Pr Patrick-Easter Sunday - Water Baptism-April 20, 2014

Dear Cell Supervisor /Cell Leader,

Greetings.

It is that time of year again when all new Christians look forward to their water baptism on the auspicious occasion of Easter Sunday. For this year it falls on April 20, 2014. Time is fixed to be immediately after the Second service. The proceeding will be as follows:

12.30 noon      A brief introductory  instruction  and prayer (by pastors and leaders)

12.45 noon    Water baptism at the pool

Kindly get the candidates to fill in the attached application form  AND their salvation testimony,  submit to Sis Shirley Phuah  before  April 13 '14 (Sun) .

and arrange for them to go through the lesson on water baptism with you at the cell group level before the baptism date. It might be expedient for cell groups to go through the Water Baptism lesson in the Successful Christian Living (lesson attached for your reference) on one of the cell meetings together to show support and solidarity with the candidates.

We share in the joy of seeing these beloved new babes in Christ taking the step of faith to affirm their faith in Christ. They are encouraged to invite their loved ones and friends to come for the Second Easter Sunday service and to witness their baptism thereafter.

As to their spiritual growth path, it is imperative that you guide them through the attached Spiritual growth Plan (SGP) : involve them in weekly cell life gatherings,(hold them by the hand if need be) through the Sunday ISOM modules designed to ground them solidly in the faith and imbibe the culture of New Life 365 (the 3Bs, the 6 culture of faith values for all the 5 generation groups).

Towards this preferred model of discipleship for new believers,  we are moving away from viewing water baptism as a mere stand alone ceremonial  event, but rather view it as a spiritual milestone when the new believer is discipled to the stage where they have a verifiable salvation testimony and is grafted into the local church and cell life whereby they may grow to be a mature Christian and leader, albeit in the long run.

Shalom,

Pr Patrick Lai
